Sicko Top Grossing Documentary in History

Oscar winning filmmaker Michael Moore announced today that moviegoers who see his documentary film SiCKO this weekend (July 20-22) will have the opportunity to enter a drawing to win a free trip to a country that provides its citizens with free universal health coverage.

The contest is part of "SiCKO Night in America," and fans that go see the film this weekend can send in their ticket stubs to enter the random drawing.  

The Grand Prize will be an all-expense paid trip for the winner and a guest to their choice of Paris, London or Toronto, cities in the three industrialized countries featured in SiCKO that cover all of it citizens.  Part of the package will include a personal tour by a representative of the country's universal health care system who will explain how the system operates.

The announcement of "SiCKO Night in America" comes on the heels of the news that after less than three weeks in theaters, SiCKO in now one of the top five grossing documentaries of all time.  This puts three of Moore's films in the all-time top five, along with Oscar-winner "Bowling for Columbine" and "Fahrenheit 9/11," the most successful documentary film in history.  SiCKO will be expanding in nearly 500 new theaters for a total of nearly 1,200 screens nationwide, so more viewers can take part in the celebration and enter the sweepstakes.

In an online letter to his fans, Moore wrote, "to show my thanks to all of you who'll go see "SiCKO" this weekend, I'm going to send one of you and a guest on a free weekend to the universal health care country of your choice! That's right. You'll get to pick one of the three industrialized countries featured in the movie where, if you get sick, you get help for free, no matter who you are.... You'll meet people who pay nothing for college and citizens who are in the fourth week of their six-week paid vacation. Oh, and you'll have time to see the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben or whatever they have in Toronto that is old and tall."
