Zak Penn has been hired to rewrite the script for the Dirty Dozen remake. You will recall Zak Penn is known best to most movie goers for his work on Xmen! He is re-writing a script that was written by writer Scott Rosenberg.

Joel Silver, producer of the 'Matrix' series, and Lynn Harris, executive vice president of Warner Brothers, decided it would be a great idea to remake the film.  Warner Brothers own the rights to 'The Dirty Dozen' film.  Alias screenwriters, André Nemec and Josh Appelbaum, in addition to Scott Rosenberg, who wrote 'Con Air', are set to triple team the penning of the project.  Co-Producer, Susan Downey, notes that the film will be modernized and it will be "a high-testosterone, fun, big movie."  You can read the rest of the article right here.

The original film involved a U.S. Major hand picking convicts that could either serve under his command for a special, but deadly, mission or serve out their death sentences.  Lee Marvin (Delta Force) starred with Charles Bronson (Death Wish), Jim Brown (Mars Attacks), Ernest Borgnine (The Posiedon Adventure), John Cassavetes (Rosemary's Baby), Richard Jaeckel (Starman), George Kennedy (Naked Gun) and Telly Savalas (Horror Express).
