A Coin Toss on a TMNT 2?

The heroes in a halfshell may have a new franchise on their hands since there’s talk of a sequel to this year’s “TMNT,” a CGI revisiting of the comic and old animated series/live action movie favorite. Steven Murphy of Mirage Studios posted a blog entry that ComingSoon quoted in a recent report that puts the profits for “TMNT” at almost $60 million when considering a worldwide total of $92.2 million.

“As of two weeks ago Imagi Entertainment (the TMNT movie animation studio) informed Mirage Studios that there was a 50-50 chance of a CGI film sequel,” Murphy writes. “Last week they upped the odds to 70-30 in favor of a sequel.”

This year’s “TMNT” featured the voices of Chris Evans (“Fantastic Four”) as Casey Jones and Sarah Michelle Gellar (“Buffy”) as April O’Neil. Neither the report nor the blog entry make mention of whether or not the voice talent would be returning for the sequel if it were to go forward.
