Spend the Summer with the USA Network

Bummed out over summer hiatus? Well, the USA Network has the solution to your summer television lull, because in addition to great syndicated shows such as “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and enjoyable movies like “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Apollo 13,” USA has original series that are all new this summer while everything else is in reruns or on hiatus.

The biggest premiere night will be July 13 when Tony Shalhoub returns as the obsessive-compulsive detective “Monk” with Season Six premiering at 9 p.m. followed by the premiere of “Psych” with fake psychic extraordinaire James Roday for the show’s sophomore season premiere at 10. Monk is the cop who always gets the bad guy, and it’s not because he’s able, but because he has a torturous brilliance and eye for detail. It’s a gift. And a curse. Meanwhile, Sean Spencer psychs you out because he’s a fake psychic with real detective talent who’s tongue is as sharp as Monk’s brain.

Coming up sooner rather than later is the first big return premiere night of the USA summer lineup kickoff on June 17 with “The 4400” premiering to an all new season at 9 p.m. followed by the beginning of an all new season of “The Dead Zone” (the series based on Stephen King’s novel) starring Anthony Michael Hall at 10.

USA also has two brand new shows premiering this season. “The Starter Wife” starring Debra Messing has already gotten off to a good start and there will be a new episode on June 14 at 9 p.m. Then, on June 28, “Burn Notice” about a spy who gets fired and has to make his own way in the world begins at 10 p.m.

Don’t let the summer get you down! USA has lots of mystery, fun, drama and action to keep you entertained through the summer television lull.
