The 'Land of the Dead' actors are...........!

The Land of the Dead starring Actors have now been announced! Mark Canton, who is producing, said the film also will feature cameos.

Simon Baker (Red Planet)
John Leguizamo (Assault on Precinct 13 - Remake)
Asia Argento (XXX / daughter of director Dario Argento)
Dennis Hopper (Easy Rider)
Robert Joy (The Dark Half)

Written and directed by Romero, the story takes place in a world overrun by zombies where the survivors live in a fortified city, trying to live normal lives. Protecting them is an enormous tank-like vehicle called the Dead Reckoning (Baker, Argento and Leguizamo will play a team of soldiers sent out to battle the Undead with the vehicle), having the artillery and firepower of a small nation. While the zombies are evolving, certain factions seek to overthrow the city.

It's said, that Romero can shoot the movie the way he likes it to be, but it will be cut to an R-Rated version for the theatrical release. Now need to worry for the Gore-Fans, because the Uncut-Version will get out on DVD also ! The theatrical release is scheduled for October 21st, 2005.

"Land of the Dead" will complement Romero's earlier zombie movies "Night of the Living Dead," "Dawn of the Dead" and "Day of the Dead", and also start a new line of zombie films (sounds like good news for "Diamond Dead" also). Universal Pictures is distributing domestically and internationally via negative pickup.
