Karl Yune joins the Memoirs of a Geisha Cast

The Hollywood Reporter just announced that Karl Yune, one of the stars of Anacanda: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, has just signed on to appear in Memoirs of a Geisha. He will be joined by Zhang Ziyi, Ken Watanabe, Gong Li, and Michelle Yeoh.

Yune will play Koichi, the love interest to Geisha Hatsumomo, Gong's character. Rob Marshall will be directing the script written by Ron Bass, Akiva Goldsman and Robin Swicord.

Based on the international best-seller by Arthur Golden, "Memoirs of a Geisha" is an epic story of love and betrayal set against the broad and rapidly changing social canvas of 20th century Japan. Nine-year old Chiyo, a poor fisherman's daughter, is taken from her family and sold to a geisha house. From her start as a common household maid, she blossoms into one of Kyoto's most renowned geishas, surviving the envy and treachery of the competition.
