John Steve Reviews VLADPosted by: Two technical things I want to single out: the score and the cinematography. Both are excellent -- better then excellent, in fact. Christoper fields who did the score has to be very, very strong up and coming composer. It sounds like he has an amazing orchestra -- but I bet he didn't have one at all. very haunting, beautiful, and scary music. And the cinematography by viorel sergovici is really first rate. Did you see the way the candlelight flickers in every scene that is supposed to be lit by c andles or fire? Really, just awesome. I don't want to give away the ending but I'll tell you it's not like every others horror movie where just kill off everybody until one or two characters remain. There is killing, to be sure -- but it doens't end the way you think it would. I heard someone complaining that it's not bloody enough. I think that's one of the really great things about it ...sure, there's blood. but not gratuitously. It doesn't make you feel like they're trying to splatter blood all over you when you watch it. very cool, the way it was done. I also liked the fact that it doesn't rely so much on special effects. it's more about performances, and atmosphers. You can really get into the story and the characters without having to stop every five minutes for some sophomoric special effects sequence. Review by JohnSteve MoviesOnline Member
