Vendetta Movie Review

Posted by:
Ardustry Home Entertainment recently sent me a screener copy of Vendetta starring Daniel Baldwin and John Novak. I have to say that it is one of the best crime dramas I have seen this year. Right off the bat I am not a fan of the Baldwins but Daniel Baldwin impressed me with his role as an Irish Mobster rising up through the irish mob, to become its leader.

One murder launches two very different paths to vengeance in this gripping crime thriller starring Daniel Baldwin (Mulholland Falls). Their parents came to Boston in search of the proverbial American Dream. But after witnessing the brutal shooting death of their father, brothers Sean (Baldwin) and Thomas Phelan (John Novak) grow up dreaming of vengeance - and pursuing it on opposite sides of the law.

As Thomas builds a career and gains a foothold in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Sean rises through the underworld ranks to become head of the Irish Mob. From rough, working-class streets to high-stakes backroom politics, amidst blind faith and bitter betrayal, loyalties are tested and lives are torn apart as the lines between the factions of law and organized crime begin to blur and bleed.

The script for this movie  was very well written and flowed well from scene to scene. So many movies these days feel slapped together with little thought. Vendetta has from beginning to end a group of small stories, as well as the big picture which all link together in the end. From the FBI agent investigating the mob, to Daniel Baldwins character Sean rising up and leading the mob. They are all tied together in one big spiderweb, that makes sense, and doesnt come across as cheesy and over developed.

The movie from the stand point of editing and visuals was on par with most films you will see in theatres today. There were no moments where you questioned the editing or wondered what the logic was behind the editing of a particular scene. The team that worked on the editing and production of this film did a very good job.

This movie overall was primarily the story of two boys, marked by tragedy, and how their lives unfold. The action in this movie was very well done, as was the story. Everything went together as a good movie should. The storyline was interesting, and peppered with action and interesting characters. Most importantly you did not have to suspend belief to get into this movie and feel for its characters, and their situations.

Overall I give this movie a 8/10. The story was good, and the characters well developed, as was the story. The one thing that didnt quite do it for me in this film was the ending. I would have liked to see something a bit more unique to the ending of this film, but it was a fitting and common end for a mob movie, so I am sure many will like the ending.

I wont say what about the ending did not sit with me, you will have to watch the movie yourself to find out. Check our movie section to find out the latest info on this movie, and where and when you can buy the dvd. As I said earlier I give Vendetta a worth buying rating, and consider it to be the best mob film I have seen this year.
