copying Beethoven on DVD April 3rd

It is 1824 and one of history’s greatest composers – the notoriously volatile Ludwig van Beethoven – urgently requires help finishing his masterpiece in time for its first performance. But for the young student selected for the daunting task of transcribing the demanding taskmaster’s score notes, Copying Beethoven proves to be far more than just a job. Playing onto DVD April 3 from MGM Home Entertainment, the fictionalized account of Beethoven’s final year features romance and moving drama set against a backdrop of the creation of Beethoven’s crowning achievement, his Ninth symphony.

 

It stars four-time Academy Award® nominee Ed Harris (1996, Apollo 13, Best Supporting Actor; 1999, The Truman Show, Best Supporting Actor; 2000, Pollack, Best Actor; 2002, The Hours, Best Supporting Actor) and Diane Kruger (Troy, National Treasure). Presented in both full screen and widescreen on a flipper disc, the Copying Beethoven DVD also features feature- length commentary by Harris and director Agnieszka Holland (Europa, Europa), as well as a featurette entitled The Making Of Copying Beethoven and deleted scenes with optional commentary by Harris and Holland.
