24 Movie Postponed, Kiefer Sutherland Plans for MirrorsPosted by: JerricaWith news that Kiefer Sutherland has signed on to do a supernatural thriller called "Mirrors" during the hiatus for his smoking hot hit series "24," the inevitable question follows; what happened to the "24" movie that was planned for this hiatus? The television phenomenon that takes place in real time has been poised to film this summer since spring of last year, and suddenly, the show’s power star has attached himself to a different project. Fans have been salivating over the film version of the critically-acclaimed series ever since the mere mention of a possibility that it would happen, and this news seems like a blow to that dream, but really, it’s a minor setback, and thankfully, not one that will put off the film indefinitely. ComingSoon.net reported that FOX has postponed the filming of the "24" feature film until next summer, citing the script not being ready as the main issue. With no official script yet and Season Six in full swing on a runaway fast track to the season finale in May, the show’s hiatus will be a tight one, affording little room for delays, so it certainly seems wise to put off the production until it can be done properly. Jack Bauer is always rushed, but his movie shouldn’t be pushed at the same harried pace. This TV series needs to be done justice in translation from the small screen to the big one, and that doesn’t happen when you’re hastily throwing it together. In light of the "24" movie’s new 2008 filming schedule, Sutherland has taken up the horror film "Mirrors" for this hiatus. He will star as a mall security guard who quickly finds something disturbing in the mall’s mirrors, and this sets him out trying to "discover the origin of the evil." Alexandre Aja ("The Hills Have Eyes" and "High Tension") is set to direct and has written the latest script for "Mirrors," which is set to begin filming on May 1st in Romania. This at least sounds like it could be a worthwhile endeavor to fill the gaping void the "24" movie has left in the Emmy Award-winning actor’s schedule. But, that void will be filled come the same time next year, directly following "24" Season Seven, when Sutherland takes Bauer on set of the eagerly-awaited "24" feature film.
