2007 SAG Award Winners

Posted by: Jerrica

You know it’s award season when you can’t go one week without hearing who won what from where. All roads lead to Oscar (except for television which is all about the Emmys), but until you get there, plenty of acknowledgements are due, and the Screen Actors Guild held its 13th Annual Awards show this Sunday.

The winners are turning out to be this year’s usual suspects; Forest Whitaker for Male Lead in "The Last King of Scotland," ( Forest Whitaker Interview ) Helen Mirren for Female Lead in "The Queen," and Eddie Murphy is on the fast track to Oscar after winning a Golden Globe and the SAG Award for Supporting Male in "Dreamgirls." Steve Carell received double the accolades when "Little Miss Sunshine" ( Interview : Steve Carell ) won for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture and "The Office" won for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Of course, heavy favorite "Grey’s Anatomy" took Ensemble in a Drama Series. In other TV categories, Hugh Laurie won for Outstanding Male Actor in a Drama Series on "House," and America Ferrera took home Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series on "Ugly Betty." Also, Julie Andrews was presented with the Life Achievement Award by Dick Van Dyke.

Those are some of the big results from the awards given from actors to actors, where those in front of the camera can honor their peers. Meanwhile, awards season is nearing its close as February looms and brings Oscar at its end. There is certainly a trend in the films and televisions shows that left lasting impressions on audiences in 2006.
