24 Season Six Premiere on DVD

FOX is releasing the first four hours of Day Six on DVD the day after the premiere concludes. Now, you can grab a copy to catch up on any missed time before next Monday when the season gets underway.

The two-night, four-hour premiere sent the new season into full swing at full speed ahead, and when the non-stop season continues on January 22nd, you can still be in on the previous action even if you missed every single minute of stunning exposition and background. The premiere is available in its entirety at retail stores, such as Best Buy, which has it listed at its website for $9.99.

This is a very smart move by FOX. The series has always depended upon viewers being able to keep up as the season progresses, but with the onslaught that is the four-hour premiere arcing over two nights, it’s very easy for audience members to miss out and Jack Bauer leaves no fan behind. With this DVD, potential viewers who hear the watercooler fallout tomorrow can grab the DVD and opt to tune in next week, allowing "24" to grab new audience members with ease.

In past years, anyone who missed an entire episode or more might find themselves forced to sit the rest of the season out and wait for the entire season to be released on DVD, which usually doesn’t happen until September. "24" is a show that can become very confusing and hard to watch when you miss one hour, much less four, so making this DVD available was a pretty clever idea.

It’s anyone’s guess though how well this idea will fare given that most devoted viewers probably didn’t miss a minute and just as probably wouldn’t buy until the complete season was out on DVD. Of course, "24" is an addiction unparalleled by any other series on the air today, and it’s possible fans might need to have their fix on DVD.
