Review of 28 Days Later Movie by Dean

Imagine you woke up in a large hospital. Walking through a door you see... nothing. As you go to investigate you see no people in the streets. London one of the most congested citys in the ENTIRE world empty. You just got up in 28 Days Later. Yes yes oh yeah (to quote Mike Skinner of The Streets fame), a good old disaster movie not involving a meteorite is here to watch and enjoy so read on people.....

First off I would like to point out something that bugs me, this is NOT a zombie film, it's a monster movie. Got it? Good, now to the plot. As you read before a fella wakes in a hospital, it's empty, goes into the streets of London. Empty again. Then it comes to a church, with a great quote on the wall:
"The end is fucking nigh"
Sums up the whole films plot. Now here you meet your first "monster", in the shape of an infected preist, the main guy knocks him down and is chased through the streets. Then he finds other survivors who save him and they hide..... watch the film to find out more!

Now a very nice touch to this film is the way it is shot, so grainy, so real, so frightening (think TCSM, the originas one style). You can almost feel the bitter cold as our hero looks around the deserted streets of London. All of the characters introduced are original and unique, no steryotypes at all. Only four main characters star giving a tremendous amount of room for characterisation, that, by the way, is used to perfection. It is a very dark and atmospheric film which leads you through the emotions of confusion, fear, dread, hatred, helplessness and happiness.

The film is not a funny movie (the way most zom films are) it is downright dark and nasty at times (I still worry any times someone touches my eyes now!) letting the horror sink in fully before giving us an action packed finally at the end (just see the last three or four scenes if you don't wanna watch it all).

The five main characters are brought in smartly at the right times, likewise they are let go at the right times some of them too. Development in emotions and feelings make you care for these characters too, even when the Dad gets shot you feel for him even though he is a zombie.

No, sorry action comes second to plot and characters in this too, no thousands of zombies killed non stop at once, just a single sneaking zombie usually, I like the fact they cause more havoc on their own rather than having to have groups of around them to kill a citizen. In this the "zombies" do run and many things can kill them, if it can usually kill a human it can kill them too.

Having seen the infection scene first (check the proffesor, he's a comedian in real life!) gives you the idea of how people change and how fast it occurs, 20 secs from fluid infection, poof, red eyes, salivating, puking, scratching and biting occurs. Only in 20 seconds!

Finally my score for it, 28 Days Later scores, drum roll please, a FANTASTIC 92% from the Singular Valent.
