Eric Bana to Play The Crocodile Hunter?

Earlier Jerrica told you that there was a rumor that Russell Crowe wanted to play Steve Irwin, which was very quickly debunked by Crowe who was quite upset about it. And frankly rightfully so since him and Steve were good friends. Now the new rumor is that Eric Bana will play him. Apparently Steve Irwin approached him about playing him in a film if he ever died.
 
Can you even begin to imagine how a conversation like that would happen? I know if I die I have asked Richard from FilmStalker ( source of this news item ) to play me, but it was mainly because hes the only other news guy good looking enough to pull it off.
