Paramount Vantage informed us that they will develop Academy Award nominated director Bennett Miller's "The Immortalist" announced the division’s President, John Lesher. Said Lesher, “Bennett is one of the most exciting and innovative filmmakers to emerge in the last few years. I am honored that he would choose Vantage as the home for this project.” Precise details of the logline are still under wraps, but "The Immortalist" is a contemporary, character-driven drama set in the emerging world of life-extension.

“It’s not a science-fiction film. It’s a drama set in the very real world of those pursuing biological immortality,” said Miller. “It’s a pursuit that attracts some extremely brilliant, wealthy and influential people. It also attracts tragic figures. This story follows one such person on his disturbing foray into it.”

Miller, who received a Best Directing Nomination at the 2006 Academy Awards for Capote will direct and Dante Harper will pen the screenplay. Harper previously directed the The Delicate Art of the Rifle a film that had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Plan B will produce with Vantage’s EVP of Production and Acquisitions, Amy Israel and SVP of Production and Acquisitions Matt Brodlie overseeing for the studio.
