Mrs Doubtfire Movie ReviewPosted by: Rainbow Ray
I must admit that Robin Williams looks great in "drag" and is hilarious as Mrs Doubtfire, the pretend maid who tries to save his marriage by attempting to ruin a relationship between his soon to be ex-wife (Sally Fields) and her new boyfriend (Pierce Brosnan). Williams is also out to prove that he can handle responsibility and as Mrs. Doubtfire is willing to show how much he loves his kids and family. This has to be one of William's best performances in his career, bar none (the other's being "Jack", Jacob the Liar" and "Patch Adams"). Williams has proven without a doubt that he is capable of performing both "comedic" and "dramatic" very effectively. Sally Fields is terrific and the audience can sympathize with her character's plight. The antics that go on in the household while Mrs. Doubtfire is there has to be seen to be believed (I've seen this movie three time now and it still as funny as it was the first time I saw this movie on DVD). The movie shows how strong a love can be for one's family even if you have to go "in drag" to show it (mind you, Williams doesn't have the legs for the role---ha! ha!). It's a great testament to the importance of family unity and harmony (in a way) that we don't see very often nowadays, but "Mrs. Doubtfire" provides a satirical look at those issues which mustn't be missed. You will split a spleen when you watch this fun and fast paced movie that will keep you glued to your proverbial seats. I wonder what would happen if they had Mrs. Doubtfire meet Tootsie; interesting idea I think. Click Here to Contribute your Own Review.
