Rogue (2006) Movie Review

Posted by: Michael

ROGUE is from the director of Wolf Creek and was supposed to initially go to theatres but then got bumped repeatedly and finally ended up not getting a theatrical release at all. Initially it was going to release in theatres against Primeval another killer crock flick which caused speculation this movie ducked it. Which is a shame because Primeval sucked but Rogue is quite good.

"Rogue" centers on a cynical U.S. travel writer who goes on a river cruise captained by a tough Australian woman and finds himself among a group of people stranded on a tidal mud island. There, they are stalked by a giant crocodile

Rogue is about a killer croc that is a rogue although never explained. You have to assume its called ROGUE because the croc is not like other crocs in that its huge and has no qualms about trying to have people for dinner. The film is really well shot and looks like national geographic for the first 20minutes but quickly enters into horror movie mode. It has a great story that is well written and executed perfectly. This just goes to show how a good director with a good script can do an entertaining horror movie that although at times it is gory relies on alot more then gore to drive a story.

The characters, the story and the entire film is quite believable and overall is truly fantastic. I would say any fan of a horror movie with depth and character will enjoy the movie. Pick it up and you wont regret it. Its a great film with alot to offer horror fans. Why they ducked Primeval and did not release it in theatres is unknown to me.
