On his quest he finds survivors inside a refinery, besieged by a gang lead by "Humungus" (Kjell Nilsson). During a battle, "Max" manages to get inside the refinery. After the fight the boss of the survivirs, "Pappagallo" (Mike Preston), tells him that they try to escape from this place, and want to begin a new life somewhere else.

In order to escape, they need a truck to tow their tank full of gasoline. If "Max" is able to get a truck (he saw one before reaching the refinery), they give him as much gas as he needs to continue his journey.

"Max" accepts this deal. But when the dorrs of the refinery open, an infernal hunt begins.....

The sequel to "Mad Max" was originally titled "Mad Max 2", but renamed to "The Road Warrior" for the North American distribution, because the first part had only been released there on a limited basis, and calling it "Mad Max 2" maybe would have confused the audience.

The dog was obtained from a local dog pound and trained for the movie.  After the filming was completed, "Dog" was adopted by one of the camera operators.
