MICHAEL CHIKLIS is recognized worldwide for his awardwinning role as the rogue ‘Detective Vic Mackey,’ in the hit TV series, “The Shield.” He captured the 2002 Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and the 2003 Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama, becoming the first actor in the history of advertiser-supported cable television to capture both awards. He also won the 2002 Television Critics Association Award for Individual Achievement in Drama. Chiklis has added new dimensions to his repertoire by taking on the role of producer and director when he helmed the episode, “Slipknot.” Chiklis has also entertained film-going audiences as ‘Ben Grimm’ also known as ‘The Thing,’ one of Marvel Comics’ most popular and beloved characters in 20th Century Fox’s blockbuster hit, “Fantastic Four.” He is currently in production on the highly anticipated sequel, “Fantastic Four: the Rise of the Silver Surfer.” Some of his other film credits include “The Tax Man” with Joe Pantoliano, “Do Not Disturb,” opposite William Hurt and Jennifer Tilly, and “Body and Soul” with Rod Steiger.

When he starred as the ‘victim’ in the short, “Last Request,” a comedy about a hit man, his victim and a pack of cigarettes, it was a film festival favorite in 1999, earning accolades from audiences wherever it played. A natural performer, Chiklis began entertaining his family with celebrity imitations when he was five years old. As a child, Chiklis appeared in regional theater productions and earned his Equity card at age 13. He later attended Boston University School of Performing Arts where he received his B.F.A. Days after graduation, Chiklis auditioned for the role of John Belushi in the controversial film “Wired,” a role that he would eventually earn three years later. In 1991, Chiklis captured the title role on “The Commish,” which aired on ABC from 1991-1996. Upon the wrap of that show, he starred on Broadway in the one-man show “Defending the Caveman.”
