Viewed, 4040x, Last Updated 2007-11-01 DOUGRAY SCOTT was born in Glenrothes, Fife, Scotland, where he attended Auchmuty High School. He trained at the Welsh College of Music and Drama where he received the "Most Promising Drama Student" award before making his television debut in 1992 on popular British shows Taggart and Lovejoy and soon after, taking a starring role in the miniseries Tell Tale Hearts. Scott made his feature debut in 1994 appearing in Black Beauty and Princess Caraboo before returning to television in a variety of series and one-off dramas including Soldier Soldier, The Place of the Dead and The Crow Road. In 1997, he appeared in the black comedy Twin Town followed by Love in Paris, Magic Moments and Regeneration. In 1998, he appeared in Deep Impact and took the romantic lead in the box office hit Ever After opposite Drew Barrymore for which he received a Blockbuster Entertainment Award nomination as Favorite Male Newcomer. In 2000, Scott played the villain in Mission: Impossible II for which he received another Blockbuster Entertainment Award nomination, this time as Favorite Villain. In 2002, he starred in the WWII drama Enigma opposite Kate Winslet and appeared in Liliana Cavani’s Ripley’s Game with John Malkovich. The following year, he took a producing credit and co-starred with Tim Roth in the historical drama To Kill a King as well as taking the lead in the thriller The Poet. Other notable feature credits include The Truth About Love opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt, Bill Forsyth’s Gregory’s Two Girls, David Kane’s This Year’s Love and more recently, Walter Salles’ Dark Water opposite Jennifer Connelly, and the stylish vampire story Perfect Creature. On television, Scott appeared in the recurring role of Ian Hainsworth in the hugely popular series Desperate Housewives. He appeared as Moses in the Emmy Award nominated miniseries The Ten Commandments and played Sultan Schariar in the Emmy winning Arabian Nights. On stage, Scott has appeared in Sam Mendes’ production of To the Green Fields Beyond at London’s Donmar Warehouse in the critically-acclaimed role of Scottish tank commander Lt. Child. He also starred in the title role of Becket in John Caird’s West End production alongside Jasper Britton. Scott lives in Los Angeles and in the UK.
