His first appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” at age 23 made him one of the youngest comedians ever to perform on the program. From that appearance, Garrett’s stand-up career took off, bringing him headline gigs at national venues as well as opening spots for such legends as Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross, Julio Iglesias, Liza Minnelli and Sammy Davis, Jr. In the fall of 2005, Garrett made his Broadway debut in the revival of Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple,” starring with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.
