With heroic adaptations being all the rage these days, there’s one hero who has been absent from the big screen for far too long. Tarzan, King of the Jungle, is about to get the remake treatment and the film is gathering an interesting cast to pull it off.
Already attached to the production are Alexander Skarsgard, who will play the lead role of Tarzan, along with Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz. There’s no word on who the two veteran actors will play, but either one will make for an excellent villain. That means there’s only one key character missing: Jane. And, according to The Wrap, Margot Robbie is in talks to take on that role.
Margot can currently be seen in Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” and will soon star in the post-apocalyptic thriller “Z for Zachariah.” It’s certainly a big leap for an Aussie girl who got her start on television just a few short years ago.
“Tarzan” will be directed by David Yates who is best known for his work on the “Harry Potter” series. The project is expected to start shooting this summer.
