Captain America won’t see his first sequel hit theaters until April 4th, but that doesn’t mean the Hollywood gears and cogs aren’t already turning on another addition to the Marvel franchise.
Variety is reporting that Marvel wants “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” directors Anthony and Joe Russo to return for the third film. The Marvel and Disney executives must be delighted with what they’ve seen from the upcoming sequel to be interested in securing the directing duo for another go around.
According to Variety, official negotiations won’t begin until after “The Winter Soldier” has hit theaters in April. However, given the box office record for Marvel films, I doubt there will be any financial complications that’ll stall discussions.
There’s no word on when the third film will hit theaters, but inside reports indicate that the brothers are already working on story ideas for the sequel. Might we get a return of Red Skull? One could only hope.
