It was recently reported that the initial rating given to Fede Alvarez’s EVIL DEAD was an NC-17 which inevitably lead to some cuts in order to get it down to an R rating for release in theaters nationwide. If that doesn’t excite you enough then maybe Bruce Campbell can elevate your excitement a bit by announcing that the remake’s release date has moved up from its original April 12th release. EVIL DEAD is also making its debut at the SXSW Film Festival, but Bruce Campbell announced last night via Twitter that the release date has been bumped up a week to April 5th:
It’s not a huge bump, but the earlier I can lay my eyes on this the better as far as I’m concerned. If you haven’t done so yet I highly recommend checking out the red band trailers released for the film even if I feel like they may just show a bit too much. I still can’t help but fall in love with the level of insanity that there looks to be going on within the trailer and I sincerely hope not too much got cut in order to hit the R rating. Either way I’m hedging my bets that when I walk out of the theater I’m headed straight to amazon to order my Unrated Director’s Cut.
Are you excited to check out EVIL DEAD a week earlier?
