Assassin’s Creed Movie Cast Announced

Assassins Creed Movie Cast AnnouncedGamers rejoice- or groan if this is the sort of news that sends you to the internet boards to spew your hate. It has been confirmed that the popular video game Assassin’s Creed will be getting the cinematic treatment and if that’s not enough to get you excited then maybe the actor they’ve tasked with the lead role will get you going.

As fans of the game know the series follows the exploits of a character by the name Altair- a character that will now be played by non other than Michael Fassbender. We all know Fassbender most recently from PROMETHEUS, but also had great roles in films like X-MEN FIRST CLASS and SHAME, plus he will also be strapping on his producer shoes for the film.

Most have grown to react negatively to the announcement of a video game being turned into a movie, since most of them end up being very mediocre and often lose what make the game so special. I have little reaction to the news except for the fact that I love Michael Fassbender and I’ve only ever played Assassin’s Creed 2 for about two weeks before I moved on to something else- it should be noted I’m not a hardcore gamer.

The game has been quite popular and a new installment is getting set to drop in October while the film is not scheduled to release sometime in 2014.

What do you think about the possibility of an Assassin’s Creed movie? Is Fassbender a good choice to play Altair?

How about someone actually middle eastern to play Altair, a character of Arabic descent. Hollywood…you make me want to smash my face into a wall.

Just like how Altair in the game was Arabic, right? Oh wait, he was basically white and spoke with a western accent.

I agree, it dose seem a bit odd to cast an obviously white male as the lead in a movie like this, maybe the people in the know are just to scared to use an authentic Arabic actor.
