If there is one thing that always proves true it’s when fan boys like Luke like a movie it always does well at the box office.
Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man has had the second best movie opening of 2012 just behind The Avengers. It has brought in $7.5million at its midnight screenings. This is an impressive haul and is close to the money that Iron Man 2 and Star Trek made at the box office on their opening night.
Honestly I am quite surprised that the movie is doing so well because just hearing that SONY Was rebooting a film that was made less than 10 years ago made me sick to my stomach. It seems however with the new director Marc Webb, a strong script and great cast and remake can find success at the box office.
I had always thought that The Amazing Spider Man had a smaller budget then the films starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst but it turns out I am wrong. Despite a much cheaper cast the film still cost SONY $220million to make. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone’s pay checks for the film might have been much less than Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire but that did not stop the film budget from ballooning.
In comparison the budget for the original Spiderman movie was only $150million. Why this new film cost so much more money to make is beyond me but one thing is clear that so far the reviews seem to be pretty good.
With it now being the 4th of July holiday in the mighty US of A The Amazing Spider-man is sure to clobber more than just The Lizard but also the box office. If we include the foreign box office numbers The Amazing Spider-Man has already brought in $50million.
