It is staggering to me the amount of footage we are seeing from THE DARK KNIGHT RISES given that the film is a year from release. We have official photos of both Bane and Catwoman, set photos of Bane fighting Batman, Catwoman riding the batpod and now we have videos of the Batman/Bane fight and the new video linked below of Bane giving a speech at Hines Field in Pittsburgh. The scene in question appears to take place during a football game given that the crowd seems to be part of the scene and Bane’s voice booms over the loudspeaker.
The main thing that I and seemingly everyone else can take from this video, is the sound of Bane’s voice. I don’t want to come down on it cause I don’t hate it and I’m beyond ecstatic that Hardy doesn’t sound like the incredible hulk spouting off brutish “I must break the bat” dialogue. I will say that the voice is- to say the least- strange. Strange in that I can barely tell it’s Tom Hardy and strange in that he sounds like a mad scientist of sorts. I know plenty of Batman purists may not be thrilled about the departure in his costume as well as the accent being very British, but I think it is a very interesting perspective- one that I’m intrigued to hear more of. It also remains to be seen if there will be some post production tinkering as well.
