Shia Labeouf Talks Transformers 3 & Megan Fox’s Firing

Shia Labeouf Talks Transformers 3 & Megan Foxs FiringAt the Moscow Press Conference for Transformers 3 Shia Labeouf had some comments about the recasting of Megan Fox and he had a very eloquent way of putting it.. I suppose. He compliments Megan Fox while praising her replacement model turned actress ( this is her first film ) Rosie Huntington Whitely.

It says alot that Megan Fox was made by Michael Bay when she was cast by him in Transformers and her arrogant comments about Michael Bay have not only damaged her career but helped another pretty unknown face get her shot at fame.

Shia had the following to say in Moscow about Megan Fox, Transformers 3, and her new replacement;

I enjoyed Megan when she was here.  I was presented with a different script, and different role.  These two people have completely different energies.  Rosie’s an incredible actress.  This is her first one out the gate, and soared, you know.  And it takes a lot of strength to be in this position.

And Rosie is very poised and great at her job, as well.  I think they’re both very good at the job.  I enjoyed Megan; I enjoyed Rosie.  I think they’re both great actresses.

For the fans, I think – this, actually, it’s beneficial to have a new set of eyes.  Because in the first movie, what you had is you had this discovery of these people, you know, seeing these robots for the first time.  And that was one of the most magical parts of the movie, was that discovery.

And you lose that in the second movie, because the two characters are vetted.  And Mikaela and Sam almost became one character with no arc, in the second movie.  So selfishly, it hindered my performance because I had less to chew on, and it hindered her performance, as well.  And I think it hindered the movie.

Here, you have a fresh set of eyes, in Rosie.  And what that does is it makes Sam more heroic, you know.  When two people have vetted at the same status, they’ve been through the wars together, there’s nobody for Sam to be heroic to, or for.  And so this makes, this just ups the heroism in Sam and therefore makes my character more interesting.  So selfishly, I was very happy that Rosie was here.

As much as I might like to bag on Megan Fox for her limited talent and her entire career being based on her body I have to admit that the dynamic on screen between her and Shia for the Transformers films has been electric and proves that a great director with a great script can really make magic with anyone regardless of talent level.

My only question is what sort of career will Rosie have as an actress after this film? She wasn’t my first choice to replace Megan Fox only because when I think about casting for feature film roles it does not start and stop with Victorias Secret Model. I am a believer in the casting model of talent over assets if you know what I am saying.

Transformers 3: Dark Side of the Moon is the final instalment of the Transformers franchise and will hit theatres June 29th. Transformers 3 is set during the Space Race as The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and to learn its secrets

  1. Baaaah, I liked Megan Fox’s character better. She was more like, “I drive, you shoot”.
    While Rosie’s character was “aaaaaargh! Sam, HELP!” So annoying. Haha.
    Anyways, Rosie was a guest at a fashion show that I was in once in Manhattan. I booked that fashion show through a casting call in http://www.NewFaces.com

    and she is veryyyyy gorgeous in real life.
