How To Find Dolby 7.1 Theaters Playing Transformers 3

If you are like me wondering where to see Transformers Dark of the Moon in Dolby 7.1 you’re in luck because we have the answer.

Earlier today we wrote about Michael Bay and his open letter to fans thanking them for their support of his work on the Transformers franchise. It was a great letter by Michael Bay and just reaffirmed that he is a super cool dude, or at the very least an awesome ass kisser, but at least he makes the effort.

In that piece we also discussed Michael Bays request that Transformers fan who can should go out of their way to find a theatre playing the movie in Dolby 7.1. I had no idea how you would even know until a reader was nice enough to point out that if you go to the Dolby website and search for your city ( heres the link ) you can then see what local theatres are offering Transformers Dark Side of the Moon in mind busting Dolby 7.1

Unfortunately it’s a somewhat slim list of theatres especially in Canada that have 7.1 but regardless go see if there is a theatre nearby so you can check it out.

Now all we need to do is figure out what theatres are not cheaping out and dimming their 3D bulbs so we can experience the 3D the way that Michael Bay intended. One of the other points that Michael Bay has been beating the war drum on is that his movie uses brand new 3D technology that if the projectionists use the 3D projectors correctly will blow fans away with how bright and visual stunning Transformers Dark of the Moon is compared to other 3d movies.

Michael Bay has even gone so far as to write a letter to projectionists asking them to project the film correctly. In the letter which is unsigned but has his name and is on Paramount letterhead he writes

It is critical your projectors play to the brightness levels specified for the best results…. …We are all in this together. Your theatres invested a lot of money in this equipment and we work very hard to deliver a great experience. Projectionists are of ultimate importance because your expertise defines the user experience. Lets make the audience believe again.

If somebody could tell me how to find that theatre I would drive hours to see it the way that Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg intended. In Transformers Dark of The Moon the Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009’s Transformers Revenge of the Fallen.

In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime “Transformers” character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.

Transformers Dark of the Moon is in theaters June 29th. Checkout the trailer below.
