Apollo 18 Release Date Woes Continue

If you’re following the roulette wheel adventure that is the APOLLO 18 release date then it’s time to start placing your bets once again. It was previously announced that the sci-fi horror film employing the found footage style would see release on August 26th. The Weinstein Company has since pulled the film out of that slot where it would compete with the Guillermo Del Toro produced DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK and COLUMBIANA and into the September 2, 2011 slot where it will compete with SHARK NIGHT 3D.

Is the chess match over? Who knows, but one thing is certain, obviously the Weinstein Company doesn’t have complete faith in the films ability to perform at the box office. A similar fate befell a previous Weinstein produced film, THE ROAD, which is a movie I absolutely adored but was definitely a hard sell and not a film destined for box office success. APOLLO 18 has the benefit of being a found footage film which has proved lucrative in a post PARANORMAL ACTIVITY world unless of course you take into account the general public has been withheld THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES for years now. Time will tell if September 2nd is the lucky day for APOLLO 18, but I’m personally hoping the release shuffle has ended.
