Robin Williams Dark Knight Rises Role

Robin Williams Dark Knight Rises RoleLets talk for a minute, shall we? Lets take a minute and talk about the Robin Williams role in The Dark Knight. It has run wild across the internet that Robin Williams will star in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises and has recently gained even more steam when a Romanian paper and an online outlet were reporting that the entire cast of The Dark Knight Rises, mentioning Robin Williams will be in Bucharest for filming Dark Knight.

The big question though is, is Robin Williams really in the upcoming Dark Knight Rises? As far as I can tell the whole idea came from a respected Batman blogger named Jett who tweeted and the whole world exploded. We dont tend to break news here we just discuss it but Batman on Film breaks some interesting Batman news pretty regularly and that may have spun into a crazed internet rumor.

Jett who runs Batman On Film seems to be the source of Robin Williams as Hugo Strange in the Dark Knight Rises when he tweeted saying Robin Wiliams as Hugo Strange is great! He has since had to defend his general twitter statement which has gained steam as fact writing on his site;

All I was doing was thinking out loud after a chat I had with an industry friend of mine. I’ve made no secret that 1) I’d LOVE it if Robin Williams finally got his wish and was cast in a Batman film, and, 2) I’d also love to see the character of Hugo Strange included in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Put those 2 together things together and, “RW as Strange? Hmm…..”

That’s it.

I’m flattered that all these outlets think that one of my Tweets is a story, but really, they’re all making a mountain out of very small anthill. If I knew that Hugo Strange was in the film for a fact — as well as Robin Williams portraying the character — I wouldn’t say anything about it anywhere.

Jett from Batman on Film clearly doesn’t think or have any info on Robin Williams playing Hugo Strange and perhaps his innocent tweet is the source of all the bad information on Robin Williams but that assumes that the talented Williams is not going to be in the movie. Hugo Strange was mentioned before as a potential villain and is a fantastic character. It was initially reported long before Tom Hardys role as Bane was revealed that Tom Hardy would play Hugo Strange. So it could very well be that Hugo Strange will make an appearance the question is… will it be Robin Williams?

What do you think? Will Robin Williams play Hugo Strange? Is 3 Dark Knight Rises villains enough? Will Hugo Strange be played by another? Let us speculate and feel free to share links to information that seems credible on Robin Williams or Hugo Strange being in Dark Knight Rises.

    I feel odd putting this up, because I am very speculative towards it myself, but a friend in NY told me that he saw some of the filming of the Dark Knight Rises from a distance and he swears on his life that he saw Robin Williams in a very penguin-esque getup. I havent put much thought at all into it being true, but I’ve let my imagination take a whack or two at it and let’s just say I wouldn’t be completely disappointed if it were true. That’s all.
