Apparently, it is Gerry Marshall’s lifelong goal to direct a movie focused on every Hallmark holiday. He’s already made the romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day” and filming is about to start for his next holiday picture, “New Year’s Eve”. There’s no word on when he’ll move forward with his long-rumored “Mother’s Day” or “Secretary’s Day” projects. Personally, I’d prefer it if he took a look at the much riskier, indie-script for “Grandparent’s Day”.

Gerry Marshall Trades Halley Berry For Katherine Heigl & A Conditional First Round Pick
All of this unnecessary Gerry Marshall snark is due to the news that he has replaced the Michael Corleone-like role of “caterer” in “New Year’s Eve”. Originally, Marshall cast Halle Berry in this sure-fire Oscar-contending role, but recent news is that she has left the production and been replaced with Katherine Heigl. Heigl joins a massive cast featuring Ashton Kutcher, Josh Duhamel, Robert DeNiro (say it ain’t so?), Jessica Biel, Zac Efron, Jon Bon Jovi, Hillary Swank, Sofia Vergara, and so on and so forth. Naturally, this movie will make over $100 million and every single female in the United States will have the immediate desire to go see it just based on how dreamy Josh Duhamel is. At the very least, you can’t doubt the marketing genius that is casting Sofia Vergara, as that makes seeing this movie a much easier pill to swallow for men.
