A videogame based on the comic book and television series The Walking Dead may be in the works by a veteran adventure game developer.
About a month ago I read on HorrorMovies.ca that a Walking Dead video game rumor was circulating and it had my interest peaked. I am a huge fan of zombie games and absolutely love Dead Rising and in particular the zombie addon for Red Dead Redemption. The thought of a well developed Walking Dead game makes my hands tremble with excitement and my brain ache with anticipation. According to 1up there might be quite a bit of truth to this. They have been invited to a Wednesday formal event in San Fran on February 17th where Sam & Max and Back To The Future game developer TellTale is going to announce a new game that as they describe is “one based on a just-launched property from the TV and comic book world whose popularity is changing life as some know it.”
Now clearly its stretching to say that this is about a Walking Dead video game but what other just launched property has been generating massive buzz on TV and in the comic book world? The Walking Dead on AMC was a massive smash hit and I even paid to watch it ordering the series on my Xbox Video on Demand service. The premiere drew in 5.3million viewers and the finale of Season 1 brought in over 6million readers! Walking Dead Season 2 is going to be arriving in July according to reports and will be expanded from 6 episodes to 13 episodes. I for one am extremely excited not just for the prospect of a well thought out game but also season 2 of the Walking Dead which will reportedly take from the second volume and will offer us zombie fans alot of new elements and excitement!
My only beef with The Walking Dead was frankly the use of to much CGI blood. The visual FX, the story and the acting were nicely polished but more episodes and a bit less CGI would have made me happy! Danny did a really good piece on How To Improve Walking Dead Season 2.
