Conflicting Rumors, Nightmare Before Christmas Sequel

There was news over the New Year Mholiday from the one and only Pee Wee Herman (Paul Reubens) that director Tim Burtan was hard at work on many projects and one of those projects was the sequel to the fantastic stop motion classic NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. However, a producer who worked with Burton came out to contradict Reubens’ statement saying that there is “no truth to the rumor,” in an article at The Playlist.

I personally love the idea of a sequel to the film as it’s become a Halloween and Christmas staple of DVD viewing and just an overall favorite of mine. The studio would stand to gain so much off of merchandising as the original already has merchandise in nearly every store I visit at malls and video stores and a sequel would just give them more reasons to expand on the already popular figures, clothing and other collectibles. I would love to take Paul Reubens at his word and I mean if you can’t trust Pee Wee Herman then who can you trust?

Maybe Reubins was talking about “Frankenweenie?” Burton is taking his live action short film of a doggie Frankenstein’s monster and turning it into a feature-length stop motion feature. “Frankenweenie” not only is stop motion, but it was released with the latest dvd editions of “Nightmare Before Christmas” and features Catherine O’ Hara, the voice of Sally from tnbc as well. Maybe a miscommunication?
