Over the weekend I had one hell of a time watching Netflix Video on Demand. I would click a movie and it would take forever to load and then just dump me back to the mainscreen. I use Netflix on my Xbox360 and was worried that I might have a problem with my hard drive or worse since recently I have been getting the three rings of death. I figured I would give it a day and then if all else failed turn to you guys who are far smarter then me for help. Turns out within about 24hours the Netflix On Demand service started working again and further more this morning Netflix also emailed me with an apology and a 3% credit on my account. The email I received said the following;
Recently you may have had trouble instantly watching TV episodes or movies due to technical issues. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. A 3% credit will be automatically applied to your next billing statement for your Unlimited Streaming plan. Ready to start watching again? Check out our latest selection. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. If you need further assistance, please call us at 1-***-***-****.

I give kudos to Netflix for not hiding the problem but openly admitting to it and offering a credit. There is nothing more annoying to us consumers then an explained bug that we have no idea what the source is. Was it my Xbox? Was it Netflix? Netflix openly apologized and made clear it was them and not me and for that I give them kudos. Admittedly a 3% credit on a $9.00 a month service is so small a number I didnt even bother to calculate it but when companies so often hide their problems it was nice to see Netflix take the guess work out of what happened and do right by its users. I have no idea if this was a Netflix Canada only issue but I am sure you American readers can let me know.
