Now that we know who is going to be playing Superman its time to let speculation run wild as we attempt to figure out who will be playing Lois Lane. Henry Cavill is a young fresh unknown who will hopefully deliver us a strong new take on Superman which means we need a young and fresh and might I add brunette female lead to take on the role of Lois Lane. There are plenty of choices and I have picked out 10 that I think fit the bill.
The criteria for my choices are age, the fact they are a natural brunette ( at least I think they are ) and are also talented actresses. So in no particular order here are my choices.
Olivia Wilde: Kind of a wild shot here since she recently starred in TRON Legacy and most of us will have her pegged to that role for awhile. But there is no question that she is plenty hot enough and talented enough to take on the role. One of my favourite roles of hers was as Jenny Reilly in The Black Donnelly’s TV Show.
Kate Bosworth: Kate Makes the list because she was Lois Lane in Superman Returns and as much as I did not think Brandon Routh did much more then emulate Christopher Reeve Kate Bosworth did a fantastic job making the role of Lois Lane hers.
Mila Kunis: This one is an oddball choice for many of you I am sure but I really think Mila Kunis is coming into her own and if she changed her style a bit she could pull the role off… even if she is an exotic Ukranian. She showed in Book of Eli and more so in Black Swan she really is quite talented and is much more then a ‘pretty face’.
Natalie Portman: Natalie makes the list for the most obvious of reasons. Witty, talented, sexy and a brunette, do I really need to explain this choice? Unfortunately since she is with child it is pretty unlikely she will be approached for the role regardless of how talented she is.
Malin Akerman: Malin Akerman played Laurie Jupiter in The Watchmen and has had roles in a whack of hit-and-miss movies but I think given the right direction and script she to could bring alot to the role and prove she is a actress worth watching.
Evangeline Lilly: Evangeline Lilly has experience with the Superman world since before she became famous from LOST she had small walk on roles on the Smallville TV show. She really hasn’t done much outside of LOST but she has the look and what better way to prove your talent as an actress then in a role like Lois Lane. This one like Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman is a real long shot in my books.
Odette Yustman: Odette’s first film role was playing a child named Rosa on Kindergaten Cop. You think she ever thought the lead in her first movie would be governor? Heck did any of us? Odette really shone in The Unborn and Cloverfield and would be a great choice for Lois Lane especially if they put lots of emphasis on sex appeal
Kristen Stewart: Yep I just put Kristen Stewart on the list. The sex appeal isn’t there for me but I know I am very much not the majority on that one. Although she is best known at this point for playing Bella in Twilight she has starred in over 30 films and has proven time and time again she has immense talent. Most recently displayed in Adventureland a very dry comedy where she played her dark role masterfully. Not your typical choice no doubt but perhaps you can understand why I put her on here.
Rachel Bilson: Really the only movie I know her from is Jumper and despite the low rent script I thought she did a very good job. Brunette, young and smoking hot I think there is a lot of potential for her to deliver as Lois Lane.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead: Mary has done some bad roles over the years her worst probably being ‘Royal Pain’ in SkyHigh but she has delivered some great roles as well, most recently in Scott Pilgrim vs The World and Live Free or Die Hard. Young, attractive immensely talented and definitely a fine choice for Lois Lane.
