There has been a lot of rumors regarding who will or will not be included in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. There has been speculation regarding the villain Tom Hardy could possibly be playing as well as a rumor regarding Heath Ledger’s Joker returning through cut scenes from THE DARK KNIGHT and mixed with CGI. Well it appears now that Aaron Eckhart is telling us through an interview with MTVthat you should not expect to see him reprising his role as Two-Face. Aaron had this to say in regards to a meeting he had with Christopher Nolan:
“I said, ‘Chris, a lot of people are asking me if I’m in the next ‘Batman.’ And Chris said, ‘Yes?’ I said, ‘Am I?’ He looked at me and he said, ‘No.’”
You can read the rest of Eckhart’s interview over at MTV, but despite his claims since the release of THE DARK KNIGHT about the fate of Two-Face at the end of the film, it always seemed pretty obvious to me that Two-Face/Harvey Dent was dead. His death sufficiently wraps up the film and let’s the story stand as its own film had Nolan and the studio decide to move on and leave the series be.
I look forward to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES pretty heavily, and have nothing but faith in what Christpher Nolan has in store for us as does Eckhart in the interview. As it stands we as fans can just wait patiently for any more news that gets dished out regarding the film, well maybe not patiently, but wait nonetheless.
