Statham Back As Statham For “The Mechanic”

If you’ve seen one Jason Statham movie, you’ve seen them all. “The Transporter”, “Crank”, all of them are pretty much the same. It’s 90 minutes of Statham running around with guns, driving really fast cars, snappin’ necks, and cashin’ checks. Well, then why do I get suckered in every single time? Is it because he’s British? Handsome? Has a chiseled physique? It’s really a mystery.

Last night during the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavs game, I saw a trailer for “The Mechanic”. Until that point, I hadn’t even heard of this movie. Imagine my surprise to see Ben Foster, an actor who has shown some promise in “Alpha Dog”, “3:10 To Yuma, “The Messenger”, teamed up with Statham as an aspiring hit man. It’s also directed by Simon West, whose “Con Air” I actually find pseudo-enjoyable. See what has happened? I’m completely snookered in to another Statham flick.

This poster also helps. Very Bourne-ish. I get the feeling this movie may be a bit smarter than the typical brain dead Statham movie. Judging from the trailer, “The Mechancic” does fulfill the Statham contractual obligation that he must make out with at least one hot chick per film.

  1. I have seen the trailer of The Mechanic and it does not look bad after all. In fact, I like the movie and still waiting to hear more news about this film. Jason is good in action as good as I have seen him in The Transporter.

  2. Another fun filled of action. Statham is one of the coolest action leading man today. Good looks plus a powerful personality suits him. When I saw the trailer I want to grab and can’t wait to watch it.
