Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are getting around these days, huh? In addition to working on Deadpool, the G.I. Joe sequel and a sequel to their own Zombieland, they’re going to be working on an adaptation of the comic book Cowboy Ninja Viking, recently picked up by Disney, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog.
Cowboy Ninja Viking is essentially Sybil for the post-Tarantino set. Written by A.J. Lieberman, drawn by Riley Rossmo, and published by Image Comics, the book follows assassins with multiple personality disorder , with each personality corresponding to a different kind of killer. Our hero is the eponymous fellow — whose personalties are that of, well, a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking — hired to take down his fellow MPD assassins. It’s as insane as it sounds, and considering their involvement with Deadpool, Reese and Wernick are a good fit for the action-oriented hilarity of Cowboy Ninja Viking.
It’s a fun read, so go pick up the Volume 1 collection. If you’re unsure, track down the first issue and see how you react to the hilarious last page reveal.
