It seems as though Sony and Marc Webb are really going all out to take your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man to the very first strand of his web. We already know that the delightful Emma Stone will be playing Spidey’s first love, Gwen Stacy, in the reboot of the franchise, but according to The Wrap, the film will not feature Peter Parker’s most famous squeeze, Mary Jane Watson — who a key part of the Sam Raimi’s trilogy as played by Kirsten Dunst.
Whether this is a move designed deliberately to put the previous two-thirds ace and one-third Venom-should-have-been-handled-much-better films firmly in the past is up for debate, but I can’t say that I’m too disappointed.
The casting has been pretty much perfect so far with Andrew Garfield as Spidey and Stone on board. We also now know that the legendary Martin Sheen is set to play Uncle Ben while double Oscar-winner
