Wes Anderson & Bill Murray Are At It Again

At some point, Bill Murray is going to win an Oscar. Maybe. At least I hope that he wins one at some point. If he does, it would be preferable if he does it in a Wes Anderson movie as he seems to bring out the best in Bill. Yes, even in “The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou”. Count me as one of the people that loves that movie.

Bill and Wes are getting back together for “Moon Rise Kingdom” and Murray will once more be in the lead role. However, instead of the normal cast of characters (Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, etc.), Anderson has an entire new stable of famous actors lined up. So far, we’re looking at Murray, Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, and Frances McDormand. Not too shabby right?

If you ask me, Bill Murray should have won an Oscar quite awhile ago. The fact that he didn’t get a sniff of Best Supporting Actor for “Rushmore” is just not right. The highway robbery of his “Lost In Translation” Best Actor loss still gets me all fired up to this day.

I don’t see why people hold so much creedence to the Oscars. These days, who wins seems to depend mostly on who has the most empathy for a liberal political issue or “ism”, or touts the whims of a special interest group. They’re all political, and really have nothing to do with consumer preferences. I lost respect for the Oscars a long time ago, and really don’t give a hoot about who wins one, or not.
