The Steven Spielberg-directed Abraham Lincoln film has been thought to be dead for quite some time. Simply title “Lincoln”, it was to star Liam Neeson as the 16th President of the United States. A few months back, Neeson pretty much admitted that he was out of the picture and wasn’t sure if and when “Lincoln” would actually happen.
Today, Dreamworks not only confirmed that filming will start in Fall of 2011, but they announced that none other than eighty-six time Academy Award winner Daniel Day Lewis will put on the black top hat and become Honest Abe himself. Okay, he’s won two Best Actor Oscars. You may as well start calling him a three time winner because it’s got to be a certainty that he wins for this role. If there are Vegas betting odds on it for the 2012 Academy Award ceremony, I’d drop at least one thousand bucks on it today.
I may be going out on a limb here, but I think that Daniel Day Lewis will have an easier time memorizing the Gettysburg Address than I did back in sixth grade.
