At this point, any rumor regarding a third “Ghostbusters” movie should be taken as nothing more than a non-starter. If anything, these rumors only seem to perpetually keep Dan Aykroyd’s name in the news. Really, other than Bill Murray constantly shooting down any chance that he would appear in such a movie, who else but Aykroyd keeps bringing this stuff up?
In a recent radio interview for WGN Chicago, Aykroyd mentioned that Bill Hader and Anna Faris are “strong possibilities” to star in the sequel that will never be made. He also name-dropped Eliza Dushku, then claimed that Murray and Sigourney Weaver are both in.
If you haven’t picked up on it, I hope this movie never happens. In fact, I’m hoping that it never happens as the rotten taste of “Ghostbusters 2” still somewhat soils the greatness of the original movie. Want me to up the stakes? I’d rather watch reruns of the crappy cartoon series than see another “Ghostbusters” movie. You know what? Starring in a movie like this only hurts Bill Murray’s chance at what he most deserves: a retroactive Academy Award for Best Actor in “Lost In Translation”.
