According to exclusive Deadline report, Christopher Nolan has already compiled a shortlist of actresses he’s going to meet to pick two female leads for “The Dark Knight Rises” – the third installment of the rebooted Batman saga. One of the girls will play Bruce Wayne’s (Christian Bale) special lady – he certainly needs one since Maggie Gylenhaal’s Rachel died in the previous movie, and the other one will play a villain – finally, as both “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Night” were rather male dominated on the evil side.
The lucky six chosen by Nolan are: Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Athaway and Keira Knightley. As you can see, the choice is quite varied here – even the age range is pretty big. If I were to guess, I’d say Rachel Weisz makes a good match for Bruce – she’s a perfect intelligent beauty type and she’s about his age, while “Gossip Girl’s” Blake Lively could make a nice enemy for him – simply because she’s such a hot ticket right now, plus she’s a new fresh face, whose career suddenly jumped from TV to big screen (“The Town,” “Green Lantern”) in just one year.
Though who knows what combination mysterious Mr. Nolan may come up with in the end. But whoever he picks, he’d better hurry – the film is set for release on July 20, 2012.
