The serious talk of “Zoolander” sequel began last February, with occasional news and rumors of the new film appearing every now and then. But now looks like the project, anticipated by the fans ever since the release of the original movie in 2001, is finally shaping up and ready to start shooting.
In October Justin Theroux (actor and writer for “Tropic Thunder,” “Iron Man 2”) told MTV that he and Ben Stiller were almost done with “Zoolander 2” screenplay. Even more recently Jonah Hill confirmed he is in talks with Stiller to play a villain in the film, and finally Ben himself is ready to get it going.
“We’re working on it…” he told MTV news, “Hopefully next year we’re going to be making it. But we’ve been full steam ahead on it”
Theroux, who is expected to direct the movie, shed some light on what happens to male model Derek Zoolander (Stiller) and his friend/rival Hansel (Owen Wilson) in the new story: “We start off with them in a pretty bad place. They’re about to ring 40’s bell. They have to claw their way back into the fashion industry in some way or another.”
Causing them trouble on their way back to fame are some bad guys, likely one played by Jonah Hill and another – Will Ferrell’s villainous designer Mugatu.
