Seth MacFarlane is looking to branch out from the hit TV series, Family Guy, that he created and lends his voice to. MacFarlane is slated to make his directorial debut in an R rated buddy comedy by the name of TED, which features the friendship of a boy who wishes his teddy bear to come to life and be his best friend. The friendship continues as the boy progresses into adulthood creating several social problems for the boy who is not a grown man.
Deadline is reporting that Mark Wahlberg will likely be starring in the film, although he has not officially signed on to do so. Wahlberg would be starring as the friend to the walking talking teddy bear, who will be voiced by MacFarlane.
Other Family Guy vets that dipped their ink into the script include Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. The film is being produced by Scott Stuber, Seth MacFarlane and John Jacobs and is being released through Universal-MRC.
I am a huge fan of MacFarlane’s TV series Family Guy as well as American Dad, so I am beyond curious to see how he does with a full length feature, especially one as quirky as TED sounds, I have mixed feelings about Wahlberg’s casting, but will reserve judgment until the film is completed and released. Head on over to Deadline to check out the full story.
